LAKE ERIE ISLANDS

GOINGS ON FOR 2006 SUMMER
At Put-in-Bay
Margaritaville North. On June 8-11, tap your sandals to the tropical tunes a la Jimmy Buffet at locations around Put-In-Bay. On the Island, they call it Phlocking of the Phaithful.
July 1, a free symphony by the Firelands Symphony Orchestra at the Perry Memorial.
July 4. Boom, boom, bang, bang fireworks.
Jingle bells, snowmen, egg nogs. It's Christmas in July at Put-In-Bay. On July 21-22, the village is decked out in holly and such. On Friday night at 10 p.m., catch the Bay Parade of Lights.
Aug. 11. A world of striped coats and straw boaters at the annual performance of barbershop quartets at the Perry Memorial Plaza. Free.
Aug. 15 -- The bartenders Olympics at the Roundhouse Bar.
Aug. 25-26 are Put-in-Bay Days with musians playing who gypsy back and forth each year playing winters in Key West and summers in Put-in-Bay. A last bite of that cheeseburger in Paradise.
Sept. 15-16 .... Funny hats, silly horns and so on at the Boaters New Year's Eve. Lots of crepe paper and lights. In the street, Monte Carlo type gambling. Heck, the boaters might even tip a toddy or two.

At Kelleys Island
July 8 -- A historical home tour.
July 21-23 -- Islandfest with a craft fair, a blues band, food, bear and fireworks.
Aug. 5 -- The Island Art Show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Old Stone Church.
Aug. 7-8 -- The Kelly Miller Circus hits the island.

TO AND FRO
SOUTH BASS ISLAND/ PUT-IN-BAY. This summer Miller ferries from Catawba run every half hour starting at 6 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.

One-way fares up a bit. $6 for adults, $1.50 for ages 6-11; $2 for a bike; $14 for a car.

Jet Express, a catamaran-style ferry that rushes at 40 mph back and forth between Port Clinton and Put-in-Bay runs pretty much all day long at 45-minute intervals.
Round trip fares are $24 for adults, $4 for ages 6 to 12, free for ages 12 and under. No cars. Also no eating, drinking or smoking on board. For details, contact Jet Express.

MIDDLE BASS ISLAND. All Miller ferries leave Catawba and the island about every two hours. Until May 12, four round trips daily a somewhat varying times. From May 26 to Sept. 10, round trips to the island number four on Monday and Thursday; three on Tuesday and Wednesday, six on Friday, five on Saturday and seven on Sunday. For exact times, check with Miller Ferry Co. See above. Prices: $8.50 for adults, $3 for ages 6-11; $3 for a bike and $18 for a car.

KELLEYS ISLAND. The Kelleys Island ferry from Marblehead, Ohio to the island runs every about every half hour during the day. Round-trip fares are $13 for adults, $10 for 62 and older, $7 for ages 6-11 and $25 for a car. For details, contact Kelleys Island Ferry Co.
